Omega 5k Run/Walk to Support Prostate Cancer Awareness a Tremendous Success

300 participants turned out for the run/walk event on July 30th as part of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity celebration of its 100th anniversary in Washington DC, at Howard University. Shown are event organizers Reginald Thomas and Steve Coles with Thomas Farrington and Honorary Chair, Reverend Dr. Grainger Browning, Jr.

This event grew out of Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, M.D. where Reverend Dr. Grainger is the senior pastor and Thomas and Coles are members. They were introduced to PHEN as a part of the Father's Day Rally Against Prostate Cancer.

This was one of the fraternity?s signature health related events during the week-long celebration. The run/walk event succeeded with its three major objectives:

(1) To raise health awareness of prostate cancer, specifically among African American men.

(2) To raise funds for the Prostate Health Education Network to continue promoting education and what can be done to prevent this illness.

(3) To continue the tradition of community service that Omega has provided for 100 years.
